From SI's Web Page To God's Ears......and NO JD Drew News, Yet!!!

Wow, the start of the new work week, the first of the year. And I have come up empty in my search for Boston Red Sox baseball news of any kind. But this should be an eventful week for that team we so love. The shadow of JD Drew looms above the walls of our revered ballpark and echoes all around the imaginary borders of Red Sox Nation, our promised land. And yet another member of our ever-growing bullpen is sure to be added soon. We might not get an established closer, but the club seems to want to accumulate more and more late inning guys, one of whom will step into the closer's role. You all know my feelings on this matter, but the club will do what the club wants to do. What a great time it would be for Craig Hansen to come of age and emerge as a force to be reckoned with. Last year he proved that he was best suited to be a one-inning guy, for his second inning numbers were alarming, to say the least.
Oh, and SI ran an article with their predictions for 2007. And number one on the list? You guessed it, and here it is.......

PREDICTIONS 2007
________________________________________________________________

"The Red Sox will sign Roger Clemens. The contract will pay Clemens $12 million to join a six-man rotation anchored by Daisuke Matsuzaka, and he'll sign it on June 1, just before a home game against the Yankees. Boston will also agree to retire the Rocket's number 21 at the end of the season. Clemens will then announce (again) that he's retiring."

Peter here, and I so hope the scribes at SI are correct on this one, although I sense a tinge of humor in the way they wrote their prediction. And Roger, NO HALF SEASON BS. If you think you can't pitch by May 1, rethink your thinking! Take care everyone......welcome back to the daily grind after the twin holidays of Christmas and New Year. And we here in Connecticut experienced the second warmest December since records have been kept. And that's one hundred years! And the combo of November and December was the warmest ever two month span for those particular early winter late fall months. Needless to say, we had ZERO snow, which is amazing. I have an all-wheel drive car, and I love to drive in the white stuff!! Our low early-morning temperatures have been higher than the average high temperatures for this time of year in north central Connecticut, which is officially Southern New England. I think we'll have to pay for these early Spring-like temperatures come February, March, and probably the first half of April. But with the weather, long- term forecasts are a crock. See ya!!!! As always, thanks for spending a few minutes here, your friendly Red Sox sports stop. Burgers and fries upon request. Best in town!

May I respectfully disagree, Peter? I don't ever want to see Clemens back in a Red Sox uniform. His pitching here was out of sight and fabulous and all that, but when he left, he burned the bridges behind him and good riddance. To each his own, of course. Happy New Year!

Sul, I love ya too....but Roger was pushed, shoved, raped and escorted AND invited out by that know-nothing guy named Duquette, Dan....You have to remember that?! ? I remember Roger's "gesture" towards the owner box because I was there. And it's Red Sox history. In my mind, RC will help the Sox.....muy mucho! Happy everything to you.....we can't get enough pitching. Think 9 months ago (Bronson?).

Pete,
I hope SI is right and Clemens does come our way. GM Duquette is what cost us for his services. I always say he has more $$ than brains. But you can never have too much pitching and it sure would add to the excitement at Fenway every night. I have about 400 different RC baseball cards my boys will inherit some day. I like Hansen for 1 inning as a closer if we don't go outside the roster.

Cheers

AND, and this is a BIG and... only ifCraig Hansen improves in almost every way. And you/we are right...more than one inning is not acceptable. At least it wasn't last year! Take care....

BULLPEN is Important NOW:

After Roger's Extra "Coffee", driving him into a rage, against One Mr Michael Piazza, I've lost loads of respect for that mercenary.

I'd love to see Roger pitch with Red Sox across his chest....I just don't look for it.

Here's to signing Cordero. I wouldn't mind adding an already established setup guy either but I doubt we will.
