CLEMENS CLOSE TO SIGNING WITH YANKEES

MONEY MATTERS AGREED UPON...CLEMENS SAYS NO COMMENT. JUST WORRIED ABOUT HIS SON'S BROKEN FINGER.
If this is true, he is poised to be the most HATED athlete, hell, person, New England has ever seen. I heard the report on a Hartford radio station (WTIC 1080), and it seemed to be that the report indicated that it was as close to a done deal as possible. The logic totally escapes me. One win away from the club record, Cy Young's, no less. Going to the Hall of Fame in a Red Sox uniform. All that out the door? Surely our FO could match any dollar figure the Yankees proposed. So we wait. I find this so hard to believe, and yet its source is an impeccable one. Oh well.

Peter, another friend of mine let me know at the same time you did about Roger supposedly coming to terms with the Yankees.

Well, there you go. He was dead to me now, but if he does this....he'll be even deader.

For all the sense that makes.

But, I'm not worried. The Yanks have been so snake-bitten that even this won't help. :-)

Dead?? Buried alive, and then dead is more like it. Well, the story broke here, and I hope it isn't true. Let him play in Texas. If he's coming to the east coast, I would think he would come to us. One victory away from the club record, etc. If he goes to the Yanks, he really is as big an asshole as Jere says, and I will get down on my knees and apologise to him. Wow. Thanks for the quick comment Cyn. You're always RIGHT there on a breaking story.

Yesterday Reb talked with such certainty that he is back with the Sox. I've never heard her more sure of anything in the time I've known her. Today, he's supposedly a yankee. All this continues to tell me that nothing is a guarantee.

Did you ever think he just might retire after all, and all this talk is completely made up?

I think the only thing that makes sense , if he doesn't retire, is to play near his home in Texas, not going on away trips, and sleeping in his own house. The only think, I thought, that would get him out east would be the lure of eclipsing Cy Young's club record, redonning his number 21, and wear it staright to the Hall. If he goes to the Yanks, anything you've said about the Man had been too tame, and I will join you, Jere, in wild anti-Roger behaivior, word by bitter asshole-ick word. You will be elected the emperor (with clothes).

All I know is, if I was kissing Babe Ruth's butt as recently as 3 years ago, how could I honestly tell myself I want to be honored in the ultimate way with a Red Sox hat on?

I'm just really, really rooting for the yanks to get him, so we can beat him and Damon in the ALCS, as both players are booed mercilessly by both crowds.

So, can you provide any more details of this report? This seems erroneous to me, as I have read numerous publications that report that Clemens is undecided. Obviously this is big news if it is true, but I don't believe it. How do you figure the this "source is an impeccable one?" This is from mlb.com:

"The Yankees would love to see Clemens return to New York, but all has been quiet on that front. "Nothing to report on him, he is retired and he will let us know if he decides otherwise -- if he is interested in us, of course," Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said recently."

I know that doesn't mean much, but I am very interested in what he does, as I thought he would return to the Sox....

Al I can say is that it came from the Sports Director for WTIC-AM1080 in Hartford. He has many connections of all kinds in the Yanks clubhouse. But I just posted the Daily News piece of today, which contradicts the "done deal thing." I want my readers to be as up to date as I can make 'em, and I won't shy away from reporting anything with a good source. Of course, I hope it isn't true. Clemens in the 2 or 3 spot on the Yankees? Dangerous, and he better not show his face in Boston. Police presence would be needed. So keep reading..I love ya all!

And Adrian, I just checked your blog for the first time, and hey, good job! You are bookmaked for further reading. And honestly, I REALLY hope this report has been overblown.
