Hey You....Tito!!!!!

IDIOT. With a day off tomorrow, and Pap's having not pitched since Friday, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING, you "F"ing idiot????? Sure, let Timlin start the 8th until his inevitable home run given up. FOOL.
If and when the Sox win, you are still an IDIOT!!! Not just for today. Maybe when the first major snowfall graces the beautiful state of Connecticut will you be relunctantly forgiven. And maybe not! But this one is your fault. Can you add 2 plus 2 plus 2?? That would make 6, the number of outs Paps would have needed if he started a clean inning. Timlin? Camoflauge or not, the guy has not been doing the job. Bad move..always and forever. We lose this one, be prepared for the consequences. Big league manager????? Not today, you dolt.

No, we lost in the worst way.

Mike Timlin is our (at worst) third best reliever. You need to use him at some point, and requiring 4, 5, 6 out saves everytime out is a great way to carpetbomb his career.

Nothing wrong with Francona yesterday, with the possibile exception of using Tavarez. That was on Timlin.

I was reacting with emotional anger...if the script worked out, it would have been manny, mike and paps for 7 8 and 9. It wasn't meant to be, Tim. And one thing I still do not agree with you on is Tek's game management/pitch calling expertise. I am glad it's an off day...stay well.

You've misunderstood me then. I'm sure Jason Varitek is good at what he does. I believe the coaches when they say he's great with the pitchers, and I'm sure the pitchers all love him as much as they say they do.

But, that being said, specifically that means nothing since it doesn't seem to ACTUALLY EFFECT THE OUTCOMES OF GAMES. This, in the end, is all that matters.

In addition to this, hyperbole like "he's the best pitch caller in MLB" is going to draw a rebuttal from most every time because it's silly- how would you even know this? Even among the cascades of praise he gets, I've never seen anyone specifically refer to him as definitively the "best" at this in the game. It's like calling Player X the best in the game at, for instance, positioning himself on defense. There are SO many variables to it, it's impossible to determine.

Honestly, I'd love to agree with you that he's the best, but besides the praise he gets from his teammates- which is just as likely to be propping up a teammate in the press as it is anything definitive- what results-based proof do you have that Varitek is what you say he is?

I'm not saying it's not there, but I've looked pretty extensively, and I don't really see it. I think people get caught up rushing to hyperbole sometimes, which then obfuscates the reality. Instead of being "Varitek seems to be well appreciated with his teammates and above average at his job," it becomes "he's the BEST," just like Jeter, instead of "very valuable, great player" becomes "the greatest player in the game and Owner of The Intangibles."

As for yesterday, my only point was that your argument laying the game at Tito's feet seemed unfair. If your best relievers can't combine to hold a 6-2 late game lead, there's literally nothing he can do.

Tim..please...let's let this die. We agree to disagree. Is that OK?? I hope so...I need your valuable LOST info, after every new episode. And they're coming up quick! Take care...hi to Erin. Love you both. And thanks for reading. I am flattered.

And I agree that the blame for yesterday's sad Sunday lies at the feet of the bullpen, not Tito.

If that's what you'd prefer, I don't mind either way. My only point is that your side of the argument didn't have a lot of factual record to argue on, so I'm not really seeing what you're content on disagreeing for.

It's a debate about baseball. Those are fun- but if you'd rather not defend your point, that's cool.

I understand your most recent comment. But I value you as a friend. So if there is no winning the argument, I'd rather not escalate anything. I value you as a reader. Just as I loved my everyday stop at BSM. And I miss that stop. Every minute of every day. OK? Just you reading me is a compliment....take care.

?? What are you talking about? We're talking baseball, you think I'd get mad if you wanted to debate a point?

Isn't that what's fun about baseball? Debating these sorts of things?

That's just weird to me. You obviously have opinions about baseball strong enough to want to run a website centered around them- so wouldn't you enjoy defending them a bit?

If not, whatever, that's cool.

I've defended enough....just browse back to the prior comments.......today has been a really tough day, and more verbal debating is not in the cards. Not today. In the future....sure! You do not make it easy, though. A little too argumentative for my today's thoughts...and yesterday's, too.
