Beckett BOMB
And so his season ended as the ball streaked into the Monster seats. Mercifully it was over, boos cascading around the old park. 9 runs ended up scoring in that 7th inning, more than any other inning in two years. What a difference a night makes. And third place is ours again. That will change this weekend, as the Orioles come to town for the final three. And yes, it could have been worse. How? This could have been game number 162.
I really don't have anything to add about Wednesday night. I've written about every one of the preceding 159 games. The well has run dry. UNTIL TOMORROW NIGHT. Inspiration? There was none to be found at Fenway Park last night. None at all. Sad.

It's funny how different it is watching the game and being there.
Beckett got some boos (actually, based on the comments at the game, the boos were for Terry leaving him in there) but when he left the mound there were a lot of people who gave him an ovation - I was one of them. End of the season, they aren't going into the post-season - no reason to be bitter and leave the guys feeling bad.
And, those of us who stayed (and I'd guess the park was still half full up to the 8th and then probably a third full through the 9th) had a great time.
I know...I could tell by your post that it indeed was a fun time. The lack of pressure, of post-season thoughts, must have helped elevate the mood. The way the crowd was miked helped intensify the booing. And the cheers. Wish I could go to more of these games. I really do.
awwwww
i actually said "done in a sox uni" meaning Clement probably wont pitch next year, and quite frankly, i hope he doesn't. Also, beckett should have been booed, cuz he finished the season with a 5.01 ERA, and for those with bad math skills that's ridiculous. A "1B Ace" that gives up 5 runs every nine innings? He better be good next year.
With Wallace back in the saddle, things will improve:
The YES Network Yankees Drinking Game is now up;

Thanks!
No booing in this corner...sorry Ben. And Michael, I stop at your blog twice per day...I've seen it all. No need to advertise here. And I do enjoy.
Awww? The only reason I don't is because I'm still gettin' used to Type 1 diabetes...the drive and then the Fenway stay sorta scares me. And then the drive back. But I will...next season.
Thanks for your concern Amy..gotta go..dinner and then who knows! No game...I should get used to it. BOO
I was hoping Beckett could have a good one for his last outing. The way his season went, it would have been nice to end on a good note.
But it was more fitting the way he ended it. Representative.
