Peter here. High noon. Big guns. One week. Seven days. .45 caliber sidearm loaded and ready to blaze. A standoff at the OK Corral? Wyatt Earp, where are you when we need a sheriff to reign in Boras, who asks for the moon and the stars and the sky but knows he's up against all or nothing? No other teams involved and a home Japanese club who needs the $51.1 million, a player who wants to pitch in good old America, the land of the free and the brave, George Bush or not....I mean, the signs point to a last minute agreement. Next week. But right now, I do not know. I thought that the one team and one team only basis of these negotiations with Scott Boras(s) would ensure an agreement, last second or not. My hopes are high.
65 years ago today...REMEMBER PEARL HARBOR. God bless every one of the brave men and women who died for their country. OUR country. For us. And for those brave men and women right now, gathering in Hawaii for their every five year observance of that dreaded day.
