The Eve Of Tomorrow...Today!

And the title of this post means that yes indeed, it's that time of year. The winter meetings of 2006 are upon us, and they are sure to shake the very foundations of so many teams. The Red Sox are sure to be one of those teams. News will come fast and furious on many fronts. The bullpen will be the main focus for Theo and company, with the Sox needing a closer and a right handed set-up man. At least. And then there is the shortstop hole. Julio Lugo? Odds on favorite, but his price tag is not cheap. The DMat saga will continue, probably right up until next Friday (12-14), deadline day. And lastly but not leastly, the outfield. Sure, JD Drew looks like a certainty to take over the always tough Trot territory of rightfield at our beloved Fenway. Big bucks and injury concerns abound, but the Sox seem to have already decided on this matter. More interesting is the Manny mayhem. We'll see on that. Any Manny comments from me would probably be outdated by the time I posted them. Other than that? Boredam. Yeah, right!
So on this Sunday, a day of peace and hope, and love, stay calm. Mayhem will indeed start tomorrow down in the Sunshine State. And our Boston Red Sox will be in the thick of it. Would you want it any other way? NOT ME!!
Have a great Sunday, my readers, my friends.

If you think Theo Epstein will be busy, Omar Minaya, his Intellectual Counterpart, will be just as busy:

It could be Muy Interestante!

Hmmm. I think they need to focus on the bullpen more so than a Manny trade... just my humble opinion.

IMO, Theo is a bad judge of players and he has a very bad habit of falling in love with stats.

Case in point, JD "Nancy" Drew. A good OBP does not solely make a player a good fit in Boston. He blew it on Clement...don't even get me started on Rent-an-error (and he's now let two good SS who fit in here slip through his fingers).

I'm starting to believe Theo should put on the gorilla suit and slip out the back door again.

Lloyd, I was a BIG fan of the Hardy Boys in my youth, and your reference to Nancy Drew was FUNNY! Have a good night.
