Yankees Lose To Indians....Is Joe Torre Finished??
Joe Torre's experiment with his number one pitcher, Chien-Ming Wang, failed miserably. Pitching on 3 days rest, Wang was only able to pitch one plus inning, failing to get an out in inning number two. Cleveland went on to win the game by a score of 6-4. I think it's a shame that Steinbrenner opened his BIG mouth and proclaimed that Torre would be fired if they did not win this series. The timing just plain stunk. Torre did a wonderful job managing a team with less than a full compliment of starters and relievers straight to the postseason. He should be applauded for his 2007 job, and that's exactly what happened last night at Yankee Stadium as the crowd incessantly chanted the manager's name. He is a class act. Always has, and always will be.
Game one of the American League Championship Series between Cleveland and Boston will take place Friday night at 7:10 PM on Fox and Fox HD. The Sox took the season series from them 5 games to 2. It will be Beckett, Schilling (he HAS to be our #2 starter!!), Matsuzaka, and if all goes well, Tim Wakefield, who is trying to get his back better. The bullpen will be rested and ready, as will all of RSN and RSI.

Poor Joe, and Regis Philbin said on his show this morning that he thinks the Indians will beat the Red Sox (he's a sullen Yankees fan after all :)
It was reported over WFAN, that Yankees Brass deemed Chien Ming Wang to be last Night's Starter:
Wang was a Total Disaster, just like in Game 1 of the LDS;
& Derek Jeter TOTALLY Sucked.
Carol, Regis is old enough to
forgive...Steinbrenner? NEVER!
And Michael, they did a great job coming out of the black hole that they created....I'm happy to face the Indians...if C.C. pitches like the way he did in game one against the Yanks, he wouldn't last 2 innings!
And ML, I did leave a comment for you on my John post.
Torre ought to quit ... just walk out before King George can say or do anything else - there's plenty of jobs out there if Joe wants one.
I loved the CAPTAIN CLUTCH sign right before Jeter GIDP.
I think the Red Sox-Indians will be a heckuva series; pretty evenly matched - Sox in six.
I also heard that Torre didn't want to start Wang, that his "hands were tied" so to speak. I can only imagine what was going through his mind as he had to take his "ace" starter out of the game......
BFW, hello....you might be right, but his players are behind him 100%, and he would be letting them down. My feeling is that Georgie will remain silent while Cashman makes the annoncement of Joe's non-departure.
Hi SL...I heard that too. He had less than nothing, and he was only marginally better (?) in his game #1 start. No Cy Young for you!
