Red Sox News. A New Sox Player! Thanks To Dave For The Information. He's Also Known as TBG (TEDDY BALL GAME)...

This news came from a great blog reader, commenter and fan of not only the Boston Red Sox, but of Peter's Red Sox Forever. That's me! His screen name is TBG, which stands for Teddy Ball Game, and we ALL know who that is! Number nine, of course. Here you go. Thank you Dave. I'll be back with a comment...

"First baseman Sean Casey has signed a one-year, $700,000 contract with the Boston Red Sox, according to ESPN's Peter Gammons.
Casey hit. 296 in 143 games last season with Detroit. He is a career .301 hitter in 11 major league seasons. He broke in with the Cincinnati Reds in 1997. He split time with Detroit and Pittsburgh in 2006 before returning to the Tigers for the entire 2007 season."

Peter here, and I think this is such GREAT news for the World Champions! Sean Casey fills a Sox void, and he'll be be able to let Kevin Youkilis rest from the everyday grind at first base while providing the entire club with even more versatility. Dave (TBG), tremendous job. Theo, GREAT JOB! From now until Spring training REALLY gears up, this will prove to be a day that we'll all remember.

Oh, click on the title of this post for the Globe's Gordon Edes' news flash about Sean Casey. And once again, thank you TBG. For everything! I told you...my readers are the absolute BEST! And that makes me so happy on this dark and rainy 33 degree Friday, another day closer, much closer, to SPRING!

Welcome to the Mayor! Sounds like he'll be a good addition to our club. Any more holes to fill?

PB, I think so too! And I can't wait for the kickoff, not only of the Super Bowl, but of the '08 baseball season itself. Have a fun weekend.....Peter
