Steinbrenner..."No Manny Here."

Maybe Hal Steinbrenner actually made a smart decision for once. He has rebuffed recent media reports that said Manny will be wearing pinstripes. Here's what he said when asked if NY had made an offer to Scott Boras(s) for Manny Ramirez or Mark Teixeira...

"If we are (making an offer), I don’t know about it," Yankees co-chairman Hal Steinbrenner told Newsday Monday in shooting down the report by ImpactoDeportivo.com (a Dominican Republic newspaper). There’ve been no offers made since last week’s news conference."

Peter here, and if Hal doesn't know about it, two things are possible. One, he's telling the truth and no offers are currently on the table, and B, he lieing through the teeth in his misshapen head. Oh wait, that his brother Hankie's head...Hal's head looks fairly normal. So the way I see it, three teams have offers on the table for Mark Teixeira...the Nationals, the Orioles and the Red Sox, who have the highest offer of all...at least that's what the media has reported. As for Manny, well, maybe his instincts were right and he SHOULD retire. After all, not one club wants his cancerous prescence on its home turf. After last year, every Boston fan knows all too well what a detriment to team chemistry he was and can be. And probably continue to be...a dalmation doesn't change his spots. Or should that have been a leopard...a cheetah...a zebra?

The baseball news is slim while we zip through Christmas week. We're all awaiting Teixeira's decision...he said he wanted to have all this resolved by Christmas Day.
