BOOMING BATS...Nor'easter On The Way
Clay Buchholz pitched a dandy two innings as his teammates scored 13 early runs in the first four innings on their way to a 15-6 victory over the Cincinnati Redlegs on Saturday. Ramon Ramirez, who will be a valuable asset to the bullpen in '09, pitched a great third frame, something we'll be seeing all year long...he is the best bullpen pitching prospect that Boston has acquired this offseason. Remember his name. The Fenway cheers for him will be long and loud...all season long. Here's the Boston pitching summary...
BOSTON IP H R ER BB SO HR
C Buchholz (W,1-0) 2 1 0 0 0 1 0
R Ramirez 1 0 0 0 0 1 0

I like it. The Sox will play the Twins today at 1:05pm est. The game will be televised by NESN. Also, my congratulations go out to the UCONN men's basketball team and the UCONN women's basketball team for their yesterday victorys. The women are undefeated, unbeaten, with one game left in the regular season to be played at Rutgers on Monday. Both teams will be NUMBER ONE IN THE NATION when the polls come out tomorrow.
In weather news here in north central Connecticut, there have been so many "near misses" by the coastal storms so far this winter. Well, it looks like we'll be in the bullseye Sunday evening through Monday late afternoon. A Nor'easter is a storm that develops and explodes off the southeastern coast and lumbers its way north northeast up to Maine and beyond. If its path is JUST perfect (to the east of north central Connecticut, but not TOO far east...passing over Cape Cod is a snow path here), this area gets dumped on. Well, I'm ready to be dumped on. We could receive about a foot and a half of the fluffy white stuff when all is said and done by dinnertime Monday. Bring it on. If there is any breaking weather news, I'll write a post with a link to the live radar. Why? I've been waiting for the "big one" all winter long, and it looks like it's on the menu. Winter storm warnings have been posted up and down the east coast of America, the good old US of A. So enjoy your Sunday, congrats again to the number one UCONN teams and as always, BE WELL. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. I mean it. Click on this post's title for more Sox stuff.

What? No love for the split squad against Northeastern University? Sure it was a lesser opponent, but I have to give a shout out to the good pitching. After all they were wearing the Sox uniforms and their win deserves a mention.
THERE was no sports page report on the game.
Those rat bastids! That's what I mean, no love cuz they were playing college guys? At least Ian Browne did an article or two and linked the box score. If you looked at all the sports pages, you would have thought there was just the one night game.
You're exactly correct, BFW.
