Lester Sharp...UCONN Rolls Into Elite 8

The Boston Red Sox defeated the Philadelphia Phillies by a score of 3-1 Sunday in the Sunshine State. Jon Lester, although a little wild, worked five solid innings, followed by Jonathon Papelbon, Ramon Ramirez and Manny Delcarmen, who earned the save despite allowing two base hits. Remember, there are only eight days left until the regular season opener versus the Rays at Fenway. March is just about over, and boy, did it fly by. Here's the Red Sox pitching summary...

BOSTON
IP H R ER BB SO HR
J Lester (W,2-0) 5 6 1 1 4 5 0
J Papelbon 1 0 0 0 2 2 0
R Ramirez 1 0 0 0 0 2 0
M Delcarmen (S,1) 2 2 0 0 1 0 0

In NCAA basketball news, the number one UCONN women are just one win away from joining the men's team in the Final Four. Yesterday, they defeated California, stomped them, actually, by a score of 77-53. They were led by freshman Tiffany Hayes, who was left open on the perimeter by Cal as they concentrated on the big three of Renee Mongomery, Maya Moore and Tina Charles. Hayes wound up with 28 points, a freshman UCONN post season record. They next play tomorrow night at 7pm on ESPN and ESPN HD. Their opponent will be Arizona State, a tough team (they all are at this point of the tourney). The UCONN women's basketball team will advance to the Final Four shortly after 9pm. Count on it.

That's it for this Monday morning. I have to tell you something later in the week when I know exactly what's what, but I'll keep it a surprise until I'm sure. It has something to do with Nadia, my girlfriend and best friend. OOO, that's too much of a hint! Have a wonderful Monday and as always, BE WELL. You are welcome to click on this post's title for all the latest Sox news. See ya. I'd love to see and respond to a couple comments. Thanks.
