Bay Blasts Red Sox Over Rangers...Boston 6 Texas 3

Jason Bay’s eighth-inning, one-out solo home run off Scott Linebrink pushed across the winning run as the Boston Red Sox won another game against the visiting Texas Rangers by a score of 6-3. Jon Lester started and was involved in a very cose game. He was able to go 6 2/3 innings, giving up 4 runs on three hits while walking 2 and whiffing 6. He allowed 1 home run. The bullpen was flawless, taking care of the rest of the game with goose eggs galore. Here's Jason Bay...

“It’s kind of nice to do it when it matters and put the team up,” Bay said. “It’s something I had done a little earlier in the year with the big hits and then just kind of struggled for a month and a half there, and so it was nice to get back and have a big hit for the team when we needed it.”

Sox manager Tito Francona said this...

“Any way we could push a run across at that point - that was a beautiful swing,” manager Terry Francona said. “We did a lot of good things. Starting with Lester, the way he threw the ball.”

The Rangers and Red Sox go again tonight at Fenway Park, with Wakefield ready to face Floyd. I'm going to wrap this up now and watch the Today Show coverage of the death of Teddy Kennedy. Rest in peace, Teddy. You will be missed forever. To my Constant Readers, check out the post just below this one. As always, BE WELL.

And a shout out to Victor for some timely pinch hitting. Glad to win that nail biter; I thought it was going to go extra innings.

Also, hello to Nadia and a question for her. Are you a big Red Sox fan, too?

I hope Victor does not have any trouble with Wake tonight. It is good to see him back. When Wagner comes tomorrow to the roster, who do they send down? Its got to be Penny. What do you think Peter?

Victor was great last night (Wed.) catching the on-target knuckies from timmy, too. He's proved to be SO valuable.

Phillip, Penny is as good as gone, especially after the Wakes performance last night. Consider it done, Phillip. Guaranteed.

BFW, before Nadia met me, she didn't give a whit about baseball. Now she knows how happy it makes me when the Sox do well, so she roots for them. She moved to Minnesota from Russia with her Mama 9 years ago, so in terms of baseball, she's used to mediocrity, Twins style. NOT HERE!

Thanks guys...you're the bestest.
