Home Cooking, The Tigers & The Trade Deadline

Well, it's Friday, July 30th and the trade deadline is coming up in less than two days. Everyone knows that the Boston Red Sox need bullpen help but this year, help will be coming from within as well as without. Pedey Pedroia is about a week away, Jason Varitek will be available roughly ten days later and Ellsbury will be back within the week, too. Already back are pitchers Josh Beckett and Clay Buchholz. No bullpen help is waiting in the wings, though, but if needed, Theo will fill that void. Here's Big Papi David Ortiz...

“We’re not too far away from having those guys back and going back to what we were in the beginning."

Here's the Boston skipper, Terry Francona, on the upcoming deadline...

“I don’t think about it. We spend so much time and get consumed with what we’re supposed to get consumed with, trying to win. The stuff about the trade deadline, I haven’t given it much thought because it doesn’t help. I know Theo is out there always doing what he thinks is in our best interest. I trust that. We’re just trying to do our part.’’

Keep it going, Tito and Team Tito. Here are the pitching matchups for the three game set with Detroit at Fenway Park. The Tigers have not been playing well on the road and they should be ripe for the picking but I don't want to jinx the home team...

7/30**Friday**Armando Galarrega vs. Jon Lester
7/31**Saturday**Max Scherzer vs.Daisuke Matsuzaka
8/1**Sunday**Justin Verlander vs. Clay Buchholz

Enjoy tonight's game, click on this post's title for more on the Red Sox and as always, BE WELL. I thank you for stopping in once again. See ya...GO SOX!
