YOUK Does It All In 3-2 Boston Win

Boston beat the Texas Rangers and their ace, Cliff Lee, by a score of 3-2 and it was all because of Kevin Youkilis and good starting and bullpen pitching by Delcarmen, Bard and Papelbon. Seeing an effective Manny Delcarmen, just returned from the DL, was sweet indeed. This was a must game for the Red Sox and to do it in comeback, 11 inning style was SO nice to witness.

Cliff Lee was spinning a beauty and that's an understatement. Going into the ninth inning, he had 2-1 lead and had retired 22 of the previous 23 batters. But then Kevin Youkilis started his heroics. He tied it at two with a double in the ninth and with the help of sparkling relief pitching, won it in the eleventh with a sacrifice fly. Here's the man himself...

“I had the same approach all game. I was comfortable. I felt good. You have to stick to what you do and try not to do too much. I just tried to get a good pitch to hit and I was fortunate to get one.’’

And the Rangers manager, Ron Washington...

“Youkilis is just something else. This guy constantly rises to occasions."

David Ortiz might have said the most with the least. Here he is...

“He’s a bad man.’’

YES! Kevin Youkilis has been clutch all season long. And after Papi's microscopic April, he has been phenomenal. Where would we be without him? He and Youk are a much-needed punch to the Red Sox lineup. Today's Fenway Park game, the last one for a long while, will be an afternoon affair. Boston will try to attain a split against Texas with their ace, Jon Lester, ready to face the Ranger's Wilson. It will be perfect weather for baseball in Boston this afternoon with sunshine and temperatures in the upper 80s with medium humidity. Wow!

Have a terrific Sunday, click on this post's title for more on last night's action and as always, BE WELL. GO SOX!
