ALCS Begins...Yankees At Texas...Bob Uecker Needs Another Open Heart Surgery

Tonight in Arlington, Texas, the American League Championship series, a best of seven affair between the defending champion NY Yankees and the Texas Rangers, begins. Tomorrow, the National League teams begin play. For the air times of both, just look at the second post directly beneath this one. It will be the "C" men starting tonight. CC Sabathia will face off against rookie CJ Wilson. Here's Yankee first baseman Mark Teixeira on the importance of Sabathia...

“CC is our ace and we have leaned on him for two years now. Game 1 is very important. We are expecting a lot out of CC.”

Enjoy game one, my Constant Readers. On a more somber note, the doctors who put a new valve in Bob Uecker's heart have found a tear and he will have open heart surgery shortly...again. He said this yesterday...

"I'm approaching this with the same optimism that I had the first time, and I appreciate all of the kind thoughts and well wishes from Brewers fans and everyone who has reached out to me. I look forward to being ready to go well before Spring Training in Arizona."

We wish you the best, Bob. You are a legend in all of our hearts and you can make it through this. YES, YOU CAN. God bless you. Baseball would not be the same without you and your voice behind the mike.

You can click on this post's title for all the details of tonight's game (from somewhere in enemy territory) and as always, BE WELL.

And CJ says this "You are not going to get to the playoffs and play last-place teams. CC is a pretty good pitcher. I'm just hoping for a couple of runs to work with, that's all." Go Rangers!

Best of luck, Uecker; I've always loved him. One of the best parts of "Major League". Also, he came up with a brilliant idea of using day-glo mustard on ball park hot dogs; cuz it would be great seeing 20,000 hotdogs glowing under the lights at a night game.

I know, I REALLY love him too.

CC gave the Rangers the runs but the Texas pitchers politely gave 'em back...plus one.
