Speaking Of Adrian Gonzalez...

In the middle of all the Adrian Gonzalez "wishful thinking" talk before the 2010 season began for the Boston Red Sox, the following still rings truer than ever. The Boston Red Sox would be a perfect fit for the gold glove first baseman. With the possible departure of another Adrian (Beltre), the acquisition of Gonzales becomes near crucial. The GM of the San Diego Padres, Jed Hoyer, who has been and will be Gonzalez' employer for this last year, says he won't even make him a free agent offer next year. And the Padres are getting what might be the best bargain in all of major league baseball. They're paying him only (don't laugh) a microscopic $6.2 million for this, his option year. That's like going to be best steak restaurant in town and getting a New York strip steak (medium rare, please) with all the extras and adult beverage for $2.99. Here is Adrian's agent, John Boggs (no relation)...

“It’s a situation where Jed Hoyer and the Padres obviously know his value. The question is, what are we (he and Adrian) going to seek? We’re going to seek market value for Adrian Gonzalez. Obviously I don’t think the Padres will dedicate that much of their salary structure to one player ((no way, Jose). It makes no sense in making offers that don’t come close to what his desires are. Nothing that’s happened is unexpected. He’s had a fantastic career and he wants to test out the free agent market and see if he gets that franchise-player contract he’s been working toward. To his credit, he signed a deal that has worked out very well for the club and he’s never said a word about it. There’s always been a desire to see what’s on the free agent market for him.”

Hey John, the Red Sox are on the free agent market. All the Sox would have do is move Youk to third, one of his two "natural" positions. and let Adrian Gonzalez work his magic on the right side of the diamond with fellow gold glover Pedey Pedroia. Oh, what an infield! Make it so, Adrian, Theo and John. It would be a huge step for that team from Boston and Red Sox Nation worldwide.

This has been a nice early morning Sunday daydream which I think WILL COME TRUE. It's like it's laready happened, for some strange and psychic reason. Spooky but I hope true.

Have a great Sunday, enjoy the football games if you wish and just enjoy yourselves. Click on the post's title for more on yeasterday's sports and as always, take care of yourselves and BE WELL. Thanks.

Adrian spells his last name "Gonzalez" with a "z" at the end,and not an "s," Peter. Sorry to be an English teacher here, but I've noticed you do that quite often...

All the best to you on this weekend.
