Theo Epstein On...

Good morning on this cold Saturday, the pre-dawn darkness cloaking Farmington, Connecticut like a black blanket, obscuring everything. I came across this Red Sox news blurb from the Boston Globe's EXTRA BASES. My thanks go out to them. Theo Epstein outlined some of the options his club will pursue in this, the 2010-2011 off season of buying and selling baseball stars. Here you go...

• "In strong terms, he said the Red Sox want Adrian Beltre and Victor Martinez back and are pursuing them. Epstein said media reports portraying anything else are inaccurate.
• The rehab news on Dustin Pedroia, Kevin Youkilis, Mike Cameron and Jacoby Ellsbury is positive. Ellsbury no longer has symptoms and is working out at API in Arizona. The Sox are sending some staff members to Georgia to work Cameron out later this month. Pedroia is out of his boot and a recent CT scan showed the expected healing. He'll be in Boston in December to get cleared.
• Epstein said he feels the rotation is settled and the main needs are elsewhere. He expects to add at least one reliever, if not two, via trade or free agency."

It would be SO great to have both VMart and Beltre back but I'm doubtful Boston can retain both, if even one. I sure am hoping they can. Just as I said in yesterday's post, the rotation will stand but relievers are needed. Other than Bard in the eighth and Papelbon in the ninth, nothing in the 'pen is cemented in stone. Theo will also add a couple potent bats (Beltre and VMart?). It's an exciting time of the year. Enjoy it with a one-stop visit right here.

Have a great weekend, click on this post's title for more on the Sox and as always, BE WELL.
