The Yankees Make A Phone Call

The NY York Yankees, those who wear the dreaded pinstripes, have made a call to try and reach out to pitcher Cliff Lee. After winning only 12 of 29 games in September and slipping into the wild card card slot, GM Brian Cashman and the Steinbrenner hermanos have decided that pitching is the key. Here is Mr. Cashman...

"It's all about pitching. Pitching, pitching, pitching. Pitching is the key to the kingdom, which is why you try to collect as much of it as you can. Our starting rotation fell apart, got hurt, underperformed, that kind of stuff," he said. "I think that's more indicative of our record than anything else. Obviously what we started the season with in the rotation and what we finished with were radically different. We're not going into this with a peashooter."

No, Brian, you're going into this with a FAT FAT wallet with plenty of cash to spend inside it. I hope the Yankees exhaust most of their cash on hand to land Lee so that the road to Adrian Gonzalez (thanks JQ) with be at least one team less crowded. Gonzalez would be a perfect fit for the Boston Red Sox, as I explained in my Sunday post, but there are many other MLB teams that covet him. Just like Adrian is a natural at first base, gold gloves and all, Kevin Youkilis is just at home at the hot corner. With him, what an infield it would be. Gold Glover Adrian Gonzalez at first, another Gold Glover, Dustin Pedey Pedroia, manning second, another Gold Glover (at first) at third, Kevin Youkilis, and Macro Scooter Scutaro at shortstop would be a dream quartet. Let's hope that particular foursome can play the same outfield...together as one.

I sincerely hope your Monday will be a great one. I linked the title of this post to the Boston Red Sox team site. Simply click on it and you'll be zapped there at the speed of light. As always, be careful out there and as always, BE WELL.
