Boston Suffers It's Fourth Loss In A Row
Four losses in a row for the Boston Red Sox are too many, especially when it's the mediocre (to say the least) Pittsburgh Pirates on the winning side. I'm more than frustrated because the Pirates are not the cream of the crop, not by a long shot. Wakefield started but he surrendered four runs in the fourth inning (4's running wild!). I can't believe the loss of the DH, in our case Big Papi David Ortiz, would cause this or contribute to this horrid display of the game we know and love.
Wakes originally pitched for Pittsburgh many years ago and he received a rousing ovation at the beginning of the game. Fans don't forget. But this time Timmy couldn't turn back the unrelentless sands of time. Here he is...
“I’m very grateful for that (ovation). I’m happy for the city and the fans that they’re playing well. I just wish it had been a better outcome for us.”
Let's hope they break this hideous streak of nonsense when they play the rubber game of the series. I'm going to save some time to watch some of the final round of the Travelers Tournament, a PGA event held just 10 miles from Hartford. It used to be called the Sammy Davis Greater Hartford Open when Sammy was still with us. Click on this post's title for more and as always, stay well.
